Welcome to the 15th Issue of eLajna Times dedicated to Ramadhan Mubarak

In the name of Allah most Gracious, ever Merciful

June 18, 2015

My Dear Sisters,

Assalamo Alaikum waRahmatullahe wa Baraktohu!

Now the Holy month of Ramadhan has arrived I would like to take the opportunity to wish everyone:

‘Ramadhan Mubarak!’

May Allah grant us His forgiveness and shower Hisabundant Blessings upon us all, Ameen.

Abu Hurairah relates that the Holy Prophetsaw said: ‘When Ramadhan arrives the gates of Paradise are opened and the gates of Hell are locked up and satans are put in chains’ (Bokhari and Muslim).

It means that when we keep the fasts with true sincerity and put our heart and mind to earnest prayers, reading Holy Qur’an and the purpose of the fast is foremost in our mind, Allah and His angels come to make the way easy for us and we find our selves supported and our capacity is increased.  Therefore let us be reminded to show our love for Allah this Ramadhan and guard our fasts and our conduct in order to attract His Mercy.

Let us strive to…

·        Remain firm on truthfulness

·        Be strong in keeping to our five daily prayers at the appointed times

·        Get up early to observe Tahujjud Prayer

·        Guard our tongues and hearts from gossip and Backbiting

·        Observe Hayaa (modesty) and Purdah

·        Be active in good deeds – particularly think of feeding the hungry

·        Seek the way of simplicity, humility and peacefulnessin all our affairs

Also, so that our fasts can promote good physical health as well, let us pay particular attention to serving simple meals as we break the fasts. Avoid using deep-fried and oily foods. Avoid using catered or restaurant prepared meals. Avoid wastefulness!

May this be a truly blessed month for all: Ramadhan Mubarak!

I am your loving sister in the service of Islam,

Saliha Malik
