Reflections on Mothers Day and Paradise
My Dear Sisters
I received quite a few messages from sisters wishing me a happy Mother’s Day and some thoughtful reflections on being a mother. I wanted to share this with everyone:
The second Sunday in May is recognized as Mother's Day. Families sit down for a special dinner at home or in a nice restaurant. Gifts, flowers, cards, phone calls, emails and text messages to mothers, appreciating their very important role in society seems appropriate and gives us confidence that we care for those who were there for us whenever we needed their selfless support.
The Holy Qu'ran advises us to pray for our parents, "My Lord have Mercy on them as they nourished me when I was a little child.” (17:25)…
We reflect more deeply on the mother's role.
The Holy Prophet (saws) knew the importance of mothers, saying:
We realize that all our efforts are blessed by Allah, we feel so special, masha Allah!
This is the time for us to Glorify Allah and send blessings on His Prophet (saws) for giving us this guidance, and helping us understand the fullness and the purpose of our lives.
Sisters, let us pray that we will be those mothers at whose feet Paradise may be found. Let us pray that the work of mothering will fill us with deep gratitude to Allah, that we will be those who are liberated from the clutches of materialism and our children also. Let us pray that we will be the true followers of the Promised Messiah (as)… Ameen.
