Frequently Asked Questions Regarding Waqf-e-Jadid
Q: What is ‘Total Tajneed’ on the Waqf-e-Jadid report form ?
A: ‘Total Tajneed,’ for the purposes of Waqfe Jadid, is the sum total of all the Active Lajna, Active Nasiraat, and Active Children under seven residing in your majlis.
Q: Can a WJ pledge be taken from an inactive member?
A: No.
Q: Can WJ contribution be taken from an inactive member?
A: No.
Q: What is an Active Member?
A: Active Lajna are the following:
- Working members who pay chanda aam or Hissa Amad (Chanda Wassiyat)
- Those who pay lajna dues (working members must pay 1% of their income)
- Those who have special permission not to pay chanda aam or lajna dues.
Active Nasiraat are the following:
- Those who pay Nasiraat dues
- Daughters of Active Lajna
Active Children-under-seven are the sons and daughters, under the age of seven, of Active Lajna
Q: How do we report the Waqf-e-Jadid chanda collected on behalf of a deceased relative?
A: The dollar amount will be reflected in the Total Collected. However, the number of people who ‘Participated’ will only include members of the local tajneed.
Q: In whose name will the receipt be issued for Waqf-e-Jadid payment made on behalf of a deceased relative?
A: The receipt will be issued in the name of the person making the payment, unless an active member code in the name of the deceased relative exists.
Q: What is the Pledge Report?
A: The Pledge Report, due on April 30th, is the report that must include the pledges of all the Active members who participated in the previous WJ year.
Q: What is the Semi-Annual Report?
A: The Semi-Annual Report, due on July 31st, is the report that must include the pledges of all the Active members.
Q: Can the WJ secretary email the report directly?
A: Yes, after the Sadr has seen it. Be sure to copy the local and the regional Sadrs.
Q: Can the report be filled out by hand and mailed via. Postal service?
A: Yes. Please be sure to mail the report in time to meet the deadline. It will be recorded on the day received.
